How it works

Sedi-filters remove excess water from wet wastes, such as sludges, dredged silts and washwaters through a passive filtration process. Solids are held within the tube as the water passes through the fabric and flows back to its original source, surrounding ground or another collection point. The result is a significant reduction in the volume of solid waste that has to be handled and dealt with – with up to 90% of the water removed.

Dewatering Solutions

Our cutting edge product has a strong environmental benefit, the main gain is the removal of water from sediment transforming it into a drier state which helps handling and enables sediment to be disposed of to landfill or used elsewhere. The Sedi-filter can be used to contain contaminated sediment whilst treatment is applied, dewatering does not decontaminate the sediment. Once the solid material has dried out and decontaminated, it can be emptied out of the tube and either spread as soil, removed from the site or blended into the landscape. It can also be used for other purposes – for example in the paper industry, pulp can be used to make compost or compressed paper bricks for fires.

Flexible and Effective Solutions

Our flexible Sedi-filters are highly effective in a wide variety of dewatering and engineering applications. Sedi-filters are designed to dewater large volumes of water-based slurries generated from maintenance operations on lakes and waterways and from industrial processes. The can also be used to create artificial weirs, berms and reefs in watercourses and in marine environments for erosion control or recreation – including surfing reefs. Sedi-filters have proved invaluable in construction and development projects, farming, food processing, paper mills, conservation, as well as in the restoration and construction of watercourses.
